Question
my 9 month old English Springer Spaniel puppy chewed up ans swallowed part of a hard plastic ball.
It has the cut outs in it to put treats in, the pup rolls it around to retrieve the treat. Apparently with no treats left inside, she ate a portion of the ball. This was two days ago. I have been watching for the pieces and they never came through. It is 4 am and I awoke to the puppy retching. She threw up pieces of the the red plastic ball. (She has been eating and drinking normally since ingestion)
My question is should I give her peroxide or something to induce more vomiting to make sure she got it all up? It is apparently not traveling through her digestive tract. I don't know if I should feed her regular breakfast in the morning or not.
What to do?

In direct answer to your question : Dogs are very prone to swallowing objects including the likes of this portion of ball. It is still possible that it may pass straight through your dog's intestinal tract but here is some advice based on my previous experience :
1. Do not try to make your dog sick to recover the object as solid objects like this can cause potentially problems in the throat tissue on the way back up.
2. I know this is a horrid task but you should continue examine your dog's faeces over the next few days to make sure the fragment has passed.
4. However be aware that though unlikely there is a potential for a problem to occur here. Monitor your dog for signs such as vomiting, lethargy, anorexia, abdominal pain or straining and if such occur contact your vet without delay. The danger of course is that this object could cause an intestinal blockage or cause other damage which would be a very serious situation so if in doubt consult your vet.
4. If your dog's stomach settles down overnight then feed her a normal breakfast but if the vomiting continues then have your vet check her out.
If I have not covered your question fully enough or you would like to ask more I will be online for the next hour or so and I will be at your disposal.
