My niece has a Canon power shot SD1000 digital elph, and she's accidentally deleted pictures of her baby son in it. Is there any way of retrieving these pictures back?

Can you plug the memory card into a computer, without the camera?
No matter what, stop using the memory card IMEADETELY. Using it will cause the files to be permanently gone.
