Question

my 2 year old son's grandmother, has given him tums/rolaids since he was big enough to chew them up. He now thinks they are candy, eats them like candy, walks around with the bottle when he's at her house. Is this harmless?

Answer

NO this is not harmless and should not be allowed. They do have alot of calcium but anytime medication even OTC medications such as Tums or Rolaids are being consumed like candy can pose several health risks. I honestly think that you need to stop this behavior immediatly, even regular candy is not good for a 2 year old to be carrying around constantly, let alone an OTC medication not designed for young children. For the best health of your son I would not allow his grandmother to do this and now it may take some work on all parts since he is used to this behavior but it honestly needs to be stopped. I hope this information will be helpful to you.
