Vicodin is a pain reliever, when taken the hydrocodone in it can make some people experience these feelings, But it can be habit forming which results in the opposite affect when one stops taking the medication. There are several anti-depressants on the market today that work really well with balancing the chemical imbalance which is what can cause mood swings. Prozac, Paxil, or Zoloft are non narcotic, they are in a different class of medications. Taking them prescribed and regularly can help with the balanced effect that you are wanting. I suggest that you talk to your physician concerning anti-depressants, since Vicodin is not the type of medication used for this. I hope this information will be helpful to you, if you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

Reply to cheryl kauffman's Post: What I am missing that I asked is what is in Vicodin the ingredient, chemical, etc. that does that I am not speaking of just stopping taking it I am speaking of when the medicine wares off in one sitting. Why are Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft different from other anti depresents and what about lexapro?

Hydrocodone is the ingrediant, the only other ingrediant is tylenol. And it is this ingrediant that when used regularly can be less effective as you build up a resistance to it, which is why that feeling is wearing off sooner now. Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft are just a few of the many good anti-depressants that do not have a narcotic in them, there is nothing different about them except you asked about possible medications that could give the same effect without the narcotic involded, so those were the examples that I gave you. Lexapro is widely used as well and can achieve the same effect as the other anti-depressants I listed for you. All individuals are different and what may work for one person may not work for another, so I suggest that you discuss with your physician which one he feels would be best for you, knowing your health history. If they prescribe Lexapro and it does not seem to work for you, then they may have to try another to find the best anit-depressant for you and your system to achieve the best results. I hope this information will be of help to you.

They do a full examination, and health history and will ask you several questions about how your health and overall behavior has been. Based upon your health history and behavioral condition, such as mood swings and medications you are currently taking they will use this information to prescribe what they feel would help you the best, some doctors have certain anti-depressants they prefer to prescribe, but it all depends on your mood swings and overall mental history as to which they feel would be the best one to fit your needs. And don't think you are bugging me this is what I am here for.
