<p>Check to make sure the glow plug light comes on when turning the key to the key on possition and then goes back off before you start it. </p><p> </p><p>Check the engine when running for diesel fuel leaks or smell on the fuel lines or injectors.</p><p> </p><p>Feel for missfire feeling when it is running. this could give you a heads up of a problem with the injection pump or fuel system.</p><p> </p><p>As with any car check the belts condition.</p><p> </p><p>Make sure it cranks over strongly. If it doesn't you may have a week battery. </p><p> </p><p>Check for overheating. After running for a while.</p><p> </p><p>Check for the plug to plug the block heater into the electrical outlet in the winter.</p><p> </p><p>If it has a dual fuel tank make sure the switch works and that the truck runs on both tanks.</p><p> </p><p>Check the suspesnion fo cracked leaf springs or odd noises.</p><p> </p><p>Make sure the brakes feel ok when you stop. Other than that you should be ok.</p>
