Well, Pristiq is Desvenlafaxine , that is it is a metabolite ( in other words a product of ) of Venlafaxine ( effexor - trade name ) , so it is almost similar in its actions as venlafaxine , but its makers claim that it has far less side effects than venlafaxine and equal or more potency as an SNRI anti depressant for its use in Depression and anxiety disorders , however , such claims by its makers fall short of approval from practicing psychiatrists , so all in all, deslavenlafaxine is almost same as venlafaxine , and personally i believe although you may try it once , but it is not going to act any differently than venlafaxine .
