Question

i've got a 1991 Chevy S10 with remote oil filter (over left wheel). 4.3L typically takes 4.5q to fill with oil and filter change, but with the longer lines going to the remote oil filter i've read where it may take 6q. It makes sense to me, but is it correct? I hate to overfill but don't want to underfill either. Thanks

I have never had to refill this engine with 6 qts, What I do is start with 4 1/2 qts, fire the engine, shut it off and recheck the level...

If memory serves, this sytem holds about 4.9 QTS...

Thanks Carguyjosh
