Hi XXXXXXXXX;
The wires from the float assembly are the electronic fuel mixture solinoid and should be connected.
Whoever worked on it screwed up big time.
Return the unit to Home Depot and insist on a new unit or a refund.
Having a unit not start twice upon getting it home is two times too many in my opinion.
Please post any other concerns here.
Best, THS
That is very possible.
It is not the wires I am concerned about though. If you can make it run wityh a shot of fuel or starting fluid them the carburator is not working. This says only one thing to me, even if they did fix it, and that says trouble down the road. Usually right about the time the warrenty expires.
You need to remember something about HD and all the rest of the big box companies, and how they keep the prices down so low.
They all buy in big lots and cut every cost out that is not absolutly necessary. The first thing to go is spare parts wearhousing, and inventory. Next is quality control oversight at the manufacturer, and last of the big costs involved in selling these units is customer support, and repair.
So what will you do when the warrenty expires? If you are lucky there will be aftermarket parts available. Service manuals are already non existant. If not.... Well I think you see the point Im getting at here.
It used to be that you could buy a little lawn tractor and it would last long enough for you grandson to use to learn how to drive. Now your lucky if they last long enough for your son to learn on.
Think about it this way. Would you keep a new car that would not start the day after you took it home? I sure wouldnt.
If you can energise them you may be able to get it going. No telling if it will keep running or not. .
As for actually diagnosing th eunit you would be opening up neatrly all of the wire looms. They use very unorthodox wireing methods to say the least. I personally will not work on one because they are such a headache. There are no schematics for the darn things and the phrase color codeing doesnt exist at the plants that assemble these things.
