Hi XXXXXXXXX;
I have never seen a set of points under the flywheel. They are always located on the opposite end of the crank shaft.
That said. What is the make and model number of the motor/unit, please?
Ok thank you.
What is the problenm you are haveing? No run condition, bad run condition, stops in middle of work for no apparent reason?
Is it a horizontal or verticle crank shaft?
How long since it was last used?

Fixed my first lawn mower at 7 yrs old. Still fixin them, and more today
Ok is there a kill switch on the unit? Or is it an old one with a metal tab you push against the plug?
If it has a switch trace the wire from the switch to the grounding point and then go the other way towards the magnito. Ensure that the wire is not grounding out anywhere.
You say you held the wire and pulled the cord. Try setting the wire somewhere where it will stay put and give the cord a good pull. If still no spark, and the wires checked out. Well now its time to pull the flywheel and access the magnito assembly.
You will need a flywheel puller. You can rent one at any rental yard. You can take it to any auto shop, or machine shop and they can pull it for a small fee too.
Please post any other concerns here.
Best, THS
Your most welcome.
Late is still about 6 hours away for me.
Thank you for the accept.
