Question

hi my computer is an acer aspire1625WLMi and for the second time in 12 months has crashed and i am unable to access any of my computer areas. I do not have a backup windows disc and was told after the last crash that it has windows hidden internally. Tech support sent me a text message with the steps to reconfigure the problem. I am wondering if you could please send me that message again to hopefully restart my system again and is there anyway that i am able to keep purchases that have been downloaded? Thanks Sarah

What is the current status of your computer. Can you load windows successfully.

Are you talking to me from same or different computer.

By downloaded programs, do you mean installed programs ?

Hello !!

You have two options :
1. Try to perform Windows repair. You need Original Windows XP Installation disc (not recovery disc). If this works out you will not loose any data.

2. Perform system recovery. Either using built in recovery or using recovery disc. You will loose all data and programs.

Hi i need to perform systems recovery using built in recovery as my computer did not come with a recovery disc

Hello !!

Not all Acer models have built in recovery partition. You can try it though.

Please try the following key combination immediately after starting the laptop (when you see the Acer logo)

Alt + F10
If it has the builtin recovery partition, this should start the recovery process.

If it doesnt then you need to buy a disc from :
Acer CD buy : https://secure3.tx.acer.com/RCD/Main.aspx

it worked alt + f10 now requiring utility password saying defult is six 0's
