Question

My 99 camry died while driving down the freeway. After towing home and some testing these are the results; fuel pump functioning, fuel pressure at the fuel rail, car will start with starting fluid spayed in the air intake, swapped out camshaft position sensor for a known good and no change, the battery died while in tow and it sat for a couple days with no battery power. I'm not sure if this would clear any codes present but there are currently no codes and the CEL is not on.   It now has a new battery. How can I tell if the injectors are firing? A noid light? If they are not firing would the problem have to be the ECM? The crankshaft sensor should be good because it starts with ether and the Crank sensor controls spark right? I'm in need of some guidance. Thanks.

Is this a four-cylinder or V6 engine? The engine control computers are not known to go bad on either. When you turn the ignition key to the on position does the check engine light illuminate normally? Do you have a scan tool to verify that there are no code set in history? If the battery cable was removed or the battery went dead the codes would be lost but if the engine is in a no start condition now there may be codes sent and you would need to read them with a scan tool. You can check the injector pulse at the injector connectors with a noid light or a simple test flight will work also just be careful you do not spread the female pins inside the injector connector. The camshaft sensor and crank sensor work in correlation to control spark and fuel injection pulse. Make sure that you have good strong spark to all four cylinders or six cylinders.
