Question
you just gave me some information about replacing my side passenger mirror. My replacement mirror, however, came not with a long cable that can be plugged in like the old one, but with a gold metal rod sticking out about 1 and 1/2 inches. Do I have the right replacement mirror, and if it is right, how to I plug this in?

If the replacement mirro does not have an electrical connection then NO this is not the correct mirror.

Power controlled mirrors were an OPTIONAL item on this corolla, the mirror you have is for manual adjustment. You can instal this wrong mirror but you would need to also order the correct interior cover panels/etc....for a clean fit, or just let the rod stick into the car bare if you don;t mind it.

If you want to maintain power mirror control then yes you will need to get the correct mirror, in that case you will need to get one used from a salvage yard or a new one drom a toyota dealer.
