Answer

Hi, my name is XXX, XX sounds like your brake pads are just at the metal to metal stage and when they heat up they are grinding, this would be the first thing to check. If they are ok, then suspect a bad rear wheel bearing.Tim

If ot's the breaks shouldn't the sound be more squeeking metal to metal?

not always, it can be worn on one edge to the metal and it wont make the noise untilit heats up and swells abit or you turn, Does the noise change at all when you let off the brakes?

Answer

the only thing that will make this noise in the rear is brake pads or wheel bearings, The brakes pads are easy to check, so start there.Tim

One last thing. I knew about the pads and the bearings already. But I read something about axle and transmission!? Can you give me all the possibilities.

Answer

If its the bearing, then they arein an assembly called the wheel hub and axle asembly. These are all one part. the transmission is up front and wont cause a noise in the rear. in the rear you have just the hub assembly and the brakes.tim
