I know that it's not a specialty boat per say, but is a 2006 Yamaha SX 230 a decent Wake Boarding Boat?

My son is a wake boarder but I want an allround deck boat with good power and manoeverability that can navigate in shallow water. I like this boat and although I know my son would prefer a Mastercraft or Malibu, I just don't want to spend that much to satisify his needs only. Having said that, I'd like to know that it will perform well for wake boarders.

Hi,
It's really one of those things that's subjective.

Will is serve the purpose? Sure it will. But it's not ideal.
You're not going to throw a big wake and there's no tower so the big air is out of the quesiton.
Plus it's jet drive so the yank out of the water won't be there either.

Another thing to note is if he cuts hard on turns you'll feel it pulling the boat..

Now as far as a runabout boat. It has a great set up. Handles well, and has plenty of power for tooling around.

So really it's a give and take.
