My 2001 s60 2.4t has started stuttering with slow even acceleration at about 35-40mph. I have gotten check engine lights related to the cat converter - would this also be contributing to the hesitation?

Answer

I would be checking for misfire cause by bad ignition coils. very common for coils to fail. pull the coils, rull the rubber boots back and check for cracks. also get codes read from the computers.

if you find any small cracks in coils, best to replace all coils and spark plugs, i suggest only volvo spark plugs.

Mike - My main question was - could there be a connection with my failing cat converter or O2 sensors helping to cause this problem. Thanks, Michael

if the catalytic converter was breaking up and plugging the exhaust you would have a loss of power but No you wouldnt get a stuttering problem. most liklley you are only getting a catalytic converter effeicency code, o2 sensor would not cause that either.
