Info Request

Hello, my name Dustin and I am here to help..

Please tell me, are you trying to use a program to help you, or are you trying to do it the old fashioned (and purist) way of just using notepad and handwriting all the code.

No, I am trying to use Joomla! because I wouldn't know how to use other methods. I am a complete novice at web site building

Hmmm..

Ok, here is a very good beginners page for joomla..

It is complete with even some training videos and walkthroughs..

http://docs.joomla.org/Beginners

Joomla and dreamweaver and many other web developer programs are very good, but you must acquire at some point a basic understanding of how pages are written because somethimes the programs thats try to do it for you mess up, and the only way to fix it is to pore over the code..

a nifty little trick, if you want to see the code that makles any page work, click view on internet explorer, and then clikc page source.. that code is what deisgnates and sets the text font pictures layout and everything for the page..

If you want to learn how to hand write code, sounds dificult, but is probaly the best way, and most relevant and easily carried into future web designs..

open up note pad,, and then go take a look here..

try typing in some of the tags

the basic order is
<html>
<head>
<title>
<head/>
<body>
<p />
<html/>
now if you notice the slash sign is considered a close sign, everything has to be closed..
once you learn to write simple tags, then you can then google how to use the differenttags to add stuff to the page, such as videos, text, font, styles, etc etc
