Hello again carolina,

I think I figured out what it is you are referring to.

Texas has a special law where they allow international visitors to claim back sales tax on items they purchased in the state of Texas. That is the office that you went to at the Galleria Mall in Houston, but that only applies to purchases made in Texas. It does not apply to purchases in other states.

Florida does not participate in such a program.

In fact, I believe at this time that Texas and Louisiana are the only two states that allow international visitors to claim back sales tax they paid on purchases inside of their states.

Here is a link to the website that talks about the Texas sales tax refunds, and you will see it applies only to the state of Texas. Florida has no such refund available.
