Question

Two questions:

I have been getting frequent RunTime Error notices while on AOL. Here's the sequence of screen messages for the most recent one;

1. A RunTime Error has occured. Do you wish to debug?
2. Line 23 Error: "b" is null or not an object
3. [2748] c:\Program Files\AOL9.1\waol.exe
4. Microsoft JScript runtime error
5. "b" is null or not an object
6. The debugger cannot display source code or disassembly for the current location where execution has stopped.

At this point, I return to the starting point and am able to continue with what I was trying to do. Sometimes the Runtime Error notice appears and must be "x'd out" repeatedly before I am allowed to continue. I have reinstalled AOL several times in an attempt to be rid of this problem, but without success. Can you help me?

Answer

Hi,

Please navigate to the following location in the AOL toolbar:

Settings > Internet (Web) Options > Internet Explorer Settings > Advanced, then scroll down to the 'Browsing' header, and check the 'Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)' and 'Disable script debugging (Other)' options.

Check if this resolves the error messages you are getting thereafter.

Dear Mr. Rath,

I won't know if your solution works until I see that I'm not getting anymore RunTime Error notices, but your advice would seem to make sense. How can I get back in touch with you if, despite your suggestion, the problem recurs?

Also, when I listed my problem, I said that I had two questions, but then got caught up in describing the RunTime Error one and forgot to enter the second question which, I assume, will be a snap for you; how can I print out a paper copy of my Favorites list?

Accepted Answer

Just bookmark this page in your browser, or log in to JustAnswer, and you will be able to get back to me all right if the issue recurs.

As for your second issue, there's no direct way you can print out your AOL Favorites; however, as an easy workaround, please download a shareware (30-day trial) program, Bookmark Buddy, using the following link:
http://download.cnet.com/Bookmark-Buddy/3000-2370_4-10276907.html (hit the green 'Download Now' button)

This will let you print out a listing of your Favorites, along with several other useful functions as well.

Regards
