Question

My cat has become deadly afraid of me with the last 3 days. I made this smooching sound with my mouth, you know like when your calling a dog and now my cat won't have anything to do with me. I have tried holding her and she squirms to get out of my arms. I have to try to get her out of hiding places with cat treats but she will not budge.
I found her over a year ago in a field as a kitten and she came right to me and we have been inseperable. Now she acts as though I were a perfect stranger. Please help!!!! I want my lazy little cat back and not this scardy cat that she has now become.

I have tried holding her and giving her pet treats but she still runs and hides. 3 days ago she would lay out in the middle of the floor and we would have to step over her. Now we have to find her because she has become deadly afraid of me.

Dear friend,

I am so sorry you are having this problem with Angel. Please don't take her attitude personally.

It sounds as if she has become afraid of something ........but not you.

It could be something she smelled, saw or heard.

Are you wearing any new fragrance or makeup?

Are you smoking ior eating new foods?

Have you petted a different animal?

Do you wear different clothes than before, or glasses?

Have you been sick lately?

I would get a Feliway plug-in at a pet store.

Sprinkle some catnip on your hands - put out some tuna or other smelly food. They just sit down and ignoore her. Be as nonchalant and unconcerned as you can muster.

I promise she will come around if you make believe you could care less.

Please let me know how things are going. I will always be here to help.

Sincerest best wishes,

Terri
