The easiest way may be to apply frontline to the cat which will cause the tick to back out and die.

The quickest way may be to grasp the tick right down by the skin using pointed tweezers and slowly pull straight up so the head comes out.

This shows the tweezer method on a human.

They also make tick removers

http://www.tickedoff.com/HOW%20TO%20USE.htm

which you may find in the local pet supply store.

Make sure to not squeeze or squash the tick body as that can push infection into the cat.

If the body comes off but the head stays in this may cause a small infection so you can put a dab of Neosporin ointment on the spot.

Watch for a hard scab to form there and often when you flick that off the head goes with it and then use ointment again.

Hope this helps you!
