Question

A couple hours ago my dog ate baseboard molding down to the wood including several layers of paint which I am certain (at least some) contain lead. I would say the area is @ 1"x3". She is acting fine and she had not vomited and so far no diarrhea. Should she see a vet?

Answer

Hi XXXXXX~

Absolutely you should have your dog seen by a vet.

Not only are there concerns here about lead poisoning (just like human children who got lead poisoning from paints, dogs can get it as well if they ingest the lead).

In addition, there is the possibility of an intestinal obstruction due to the foreign objects she ate.

If this were my dog, I'd definately have a vet take a peek at her...just to be on the safe side.

I hope this helps.
