Question

I have an 89 four winns 180horizon that I purchased brand new and have taken very good care of this over the years but sadly to say the walk-thru part of the winshield is starting to separate and I don't know what to do to fix this. It is not fitting that tight up toward the top of the frame and fit's better at the bottom. If you know what would be an appropiate fix please let me know. Thanks!

Answer

Hi,

As your hull has relaxed over the years of good care and use you've provided the windshield has separated slightly.

Very common and nothing at all to be concerned about with the boat. It is normal.

You should have an adjustable prop rod on wither side of the walkthrough. They are srewed to the windshield frame(s) and also screwed to the dash.

There should be some slotted adjustment notches on the lower mount of each support rod. Loosen the screws that hold the end of the rod to the mount, slide each one down one notch and recheck your adjustment.

If you do this with the walkthrough window closed you will be able make the adjustment quickly and easily.

Retighten the screws and while you are at it re-tighten the remaining frame screws, check the weatherstripping on the walkthrough and replace it if the windshiled has been rattling at all and you are good to go!

Best of luck.
