Hello vortex,

WHere is the coil in relation to the blower on your air handler? It is in basement so it is an upflow so is the coil under the blower or above the blower?

Coil is below the fan. Thanks for the reply. I cleaned air ducts for 3 years, but I don't know anything about HVAC mechanics.

Answer

OK coil is in the return air portion of air handler, in other words air is being PULLED through the coil and consequently the drain pipe or hose must be trapped for it to drain correctly. Is this the case on yours?

Yes, there is a trap on the drain. The drain line is clear, I've already cleaned it. I had a LARGE puddle of water when I first cut unit on, so I cleaned the drain and that fixed it. There is a condensate pump @ the end of the drain, I have verified that pump is working properly. After fix however, I still get a small amount of water on floor and carboard frame on filter is soaked.

Answer

You're going to lhave to observe it in operation and the only way to do this is with the cover of the coil off. So you must use something you can see through to hold ove r the opening so you can observe in there with a flashlight to tell where it's dripping from. You can go out and buy a piece of plexiglass for this purpose or you can try to wrap clear SARAN WRAP over the hole but in either case it must be just like the cover is still in place so that the air flow is exactly the same.
