Hello and Welome to Just answer.

It certainly sounds has if the battery is discharged if i were you i would either charge or replace the battery do this check first turn on your headlamps and turn the ignition key has if you were starting the car if the lights fade when doing this its your battery at fault.please get back to me with the results.

Best regards.

when i have tryed to start car i get ignition symbols on dash ok but internal light did not work and neither did headlights - i was also in thought that it was battery issue but had been advised was a starting motor - as far as i remember the last time a starting motor went i had no clicking, also is it likely to be the spark plugs and points that caused initial starting problem?

Hi Huggles 1978.

The battery is there to place power to all electrics and starting motor until we know for sure you must have a fully charged battery to start off with, the lights not working could be the indication of this battery the starting motor wont have any affect on light issues, please could you tell me what model of car it is and when was it serviced last.

Best regard.

Hi. The oil cap has nothing to do with the spark plugs or running of the car its just there to prevent oil from coming out, if i was you get the battery sorted out and go on from there o.k. 3-4 years for a batterys life is not bad now its time to renew it,after this has been done treat it to a service such has spark plugs ect, if your happy with this answer please press the accept button has i won't get paid also could you leave feedback for me.

Best regards.
