The light on my dash, in your location is a RED light. its a small box with a fan blade looking thing inside the box? This would be the coolant light. It would be telling you that your coolant level in the bottle is low.

If there is NO coolant in the bottle, you should not drive the car, since you do not know how much coolant is in the radiator and engine. If however the level is just a little low. Then you should be ok to drive it. I hope you keep an eye on your temperature gauge, if it starts going up towards the red, or goes down while driving, the car should be safely stopped.
