Thanks for the question XXXXXX,

Ambien { Zolpidem } is a sleeping tablet used in humans but not usually prescribed in the dog. If this happened within the last two hours you should make your dog sick immediately, for the sake of speed I will give you a link on how to do this best : LINK

Here is a link to a web page concerning the effects of this drug in the dog : LINK It is encouraging that this report says that clinical signs developed within 1 hour and usually resolved within 12 hours and no deaths were reported. From the report your 2 mg would be a low dose compared to the other dogs in the study.

If a dog was overdosed on this drug what you might expect to see is incoordination, vomiting, excess salivation, tremors lethargy and weakness amongst other symptoms.

If you fail to make your dog vomit and recover the tablet that way my advice to you is to keep an eye on your dog and contact a vet at once if any of the listed symptoms develop. Taking the information on the web site link I gave you as accurate if no symptoms develop withing three hours then it would be reasonable to suppose you would be in the clear.

If I have not covered your question fully enough or you would like to ask more I will be online for the next hour or so and I will be at your disposal.
