Question

I have a 2001 Kawasaki 1100 ZXI. I replaced the fuel pump. When I removed the carburetor I had to disconnect the oil feed lines, small rubber tube. One of the nipples that the oil feed tube attaches to came out of the carburetor. There is a small spring and ball bearing inside the nipple. What are these for? To prevent back flow? I lost one of the ball bearings and springs. They are not listed anywhere on parts diagrams. How do I get replacement springs and ball bearing?

Hello Terry 9925,

The parts are designed to prevent the oil from draining thru the oil pump and into the engine when it is not running. These parts are not available seperatly. You would have to buy the whole carburetor to get those parts. Another option would be to try to locate a set of used carbs to remove the parts from. A third option would be to install a check valve in line. Kawasaki had a recall or product update on certain year 1100's that had problems with the check valves sticking open. The fix was to cut each of the oil feed lines and install a second check valve inline. Sorry I no longer have access to Kawasaki service publications to give you the number of the service bulletin or product update but any Kawasaki watercraft dealer should be able to find that information for you. It will certainly be less expensive than buying another carburetor.

If this answer was helpful please click accept and leave positive feedback.
