Yes, I am serious, he buys whatever he wants, if he wants it.
I am his daughter. Yes he is in fairly good health. I am very close to him. I have 3 sisters, and we are all very close. He just sent me and my sisters and mom on a cruise for a week.
He used to hunt, and fish a lot, but doesn't do it much now. He loves to read and has a whole lot of books. He loves gadgets and such and has lots of them. He hardly ever throws anything away so he has a lot of stuff. We have gotten him gift certificates and he uses them if he thinks of it. We've tried DVD's and he has so many that he hasn't opened them. I've run out of ideas. I even got him a journal to write down his stories of his life and he hasn't done it.
Your dad sounds unique. You sound to be a very close family indeed. My mom just turned 82 and she too has everything.
Decisions such as this are often hard to make. But my suggestion is to find a photo of you and him or the three sisters and your father together and have it professionally enlarged to the best quality size possible and have it framed. Your mom need not be in the photo. Photo's of you in your younger years are the best to use..........it takes them back in time and reminds them of "those days" gone by.
If he is physically able you could always charter a hunting or fishing trip with a quide. These do not come cheap. But if he has not gone fishing or hunting in some time this may well be something to help him feel his youth again.
I say go with a photo that means something special...............something that he will hang on the wall and remember you three girls when he sees it. Each time he will look at it can bring back past and present memories..............on going so to speak.
If this is not adequate for him then reply and I will attempt some other ideas...........my fav. is the photo however.
