Info Request

Do you have a thermometer that you can check his temperature with? Just insert it rectally about one inch and let me know what it reads.

What does he normally eat for meals? For treats?

Has he had anything unuusual?

Has he had a normal bowel movement today?

Answer

That is never a good sign when a puppy won't eat, especially combined with diarrhea and/or vomiting. I would be concerned about parvovirus since they are not completely protected until they have all of their boosters. I would get into your vet first thing tomorrow - if not tonight. If you can get him to hold some water down I would try that tonight and take him first thing tomorrow. They can run a quick parvo test on him to see if that is what it is and start treatment.

Whatever it is, it does sound serious and definitely shouldn't wait until Monday.

Let me know if you have more questions,

today shouldve been his third porvo shot,im so worried, we took him to the park for the first time this past tuesday and he was fine til today, but i was afraid he might catch something,i made an appt for 10 am tommorrow,he takes just a couple of drinks of water now and then and just seems to want to be held,is ther anything else i can do? should i maybe give him some gatorade or somehting?

Accepted Answer

You can try gatorade or pedialyte. Keeping him hydrated is key. I would just try giving a few teaspoons every few hours so you won't upset his tummy. It is better for it not to be too cold, just leukwarm. Sometimes cold will make them throw up, too.

Keep him bundled up and warm tonight.
