Hi there,

Here are several suggestions to help produce easier bowel movements, but remembering that if the signs worsen, notably vomiting - then I would seek veterinary care sooner.

- Encouarged water/drinking - As the colon normally reabsorbs water in the body - if the patient is dehdyrated, more firm stool is present that is uncomfortable to pass. If we increase water and hydration, we can then get softer stool that is easier to pass.

- Offer milk. The reason for this is that most cats are mildly lactose intolerant and milk will have a natural laxative effect, just like it will in people that are lactose intolerant.

- You can also try a hairball product such as Laxatone - products such as this or similar to this usually are petroleum based and will allow for easier passage for the feces.

I hope this information helps :) Please let me know if you have additional questions.
