If your dog will chew things such as a big smoked bone or a pig ear etc that can help clean teeth.
You can also buy a small bag of Hills Dental Diet from your vet and give those as treats. The dental diet cleans a lot of tartar off of teeth. I'd give it after a meal as a 'cookie' rather than feeding it as her usual diet.
It won't solve the whole problem but it can reduce plaque and inflammation.
Hope this helps you!
Hi, thank-you very much for your help but she ia a very small dog about 5-7lbs. and she gets milk bones for her treats but she never has smoked bones or pigs ears or even human food, she has kibble for her meal which comes from a vet, do u have any more suggestions or could you help me find a good vet to have her teeth cleaned that isn't very expensive as I'm pretty sure she has cavities but she Isn't in pain as far as I know, so hopefully you might be able to help me even more.....
Thanks Rita ( oh ya I live in Victoria B.C.)
You can check with your local humane societies to see if they know of any low cost vets.
You can save up for the cleaning after you find out how much your vet charges.
The dental diet is something you could use instead of the milk bones.
Without good chew items lots of tartar builds up on dog teeth. Chewing is their natural way of brushing.
