Question

If you have been accused of useing someones credit card and the city PD and a lawyer were invovled and an investagation was done over a 5 month period and in the end they came up with nothing. My nervers are not good as i take many med's for this problem. Many people have heard about this, now i even have people that will not have anything to do with me as they thought i did it. My reputation has been hit hard. What do you all need to have to try and sue this party. If this does not happen what kind of letter could be writtern to let people know i did not do it ? Would this be a case of slander ?

Accepted Answer

You do have a potential defamation claim. Being accused of unauthorized use of a credit card is what is called slander per se. You can sue for damages to your reputation. You would have to decide whether the cost of such a suit is worth the potential damages you might recover. I suggest you call a local attorney to discuss it and see if it is a case worth pursuing.
