Question

I need to weatherstrip a door to my house. When the door is shut, there is a big gap at the top left-hand corner. You can feel the outdoor air coming in when you hold your hand there. My husband isn't a handyman and says that weatherstripping is the only fix for this problem. But we have bought the largest size {meaning width/thickness} weatherstripping that it comes in and can still see daylight and feel a draft coming in. We have shopped Lowes, Home Depot, local lumber yards, no luck. My hubby says that we need weatherstripping that comes in a size that is about 3" wide and 1/2" thick. Where can I find this size of weatherstripping?? Please help!!

Hi and thanks for using justAnswer.com. You can try walkin cooler gaskets to achieve these dimensions.:

However with a gap that large your better off making a wood fill to fit the top of the door- such that it meets the stop evenly. If it's a metal door you can build it up with BondoGlass- available at HomeDepot and autopart stores.
