Hello. Thanks for writing in. Does she go outside at all? Is the lump painful now? Can you take a picture of the lump and post it to your next message, using the "tree" icon on the toolbar above?

Is that the lump in the middle, looks closer to the spine on the picture? Is it painful now if you press on it?

she stays in our yard. we have a few bushes but mostly grass. she just wanders thru the yard. we watch her tho, so she doesnt go by the road.

Accepted Answer

Thanks for the information. My first thought is that this is an abscess from a bite wound. Cats get these often from fights. If there is no way that she could have gotten into a fight with another cat outside the house or with another pet in the house, it is possible to get an abscess from a puncture wound from something else around the house or yard. An abscess can make a cat sick. If not an abscess, it could be a mass or cyst growing there. In general, skin or dermal masses in cats are often cancerous. I would lend more credit to an abscess, first. Either way, have your vet check this out tomorrow. If an abscess, they will need to drain and flush it and put her on antibiotics. If is is not an abscess, they will most likely want to aspirate it to get a diagnosis. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps.
