Info Request

Hello,

What are the reasons you think your chinchilla is in pain - does he make noises, etc.?

Do you use him for breeding?

How old is he?

Thank you.

Hi

He makes a clicking sound if annoyed or in pain-and this is the noise he makes which makes me think he is possibly hurting.

He is just over 2 years old and not used for breeding.

Thank you for getting back to me. your chinchilla may have developed an infection in his penis. Signs of such an infection may not be obvious, but look closely for redness, a little swelling, or any discharge. If you see any of those signs, there is probably an infection. However, there can still be one even if none of those symptoms are present. A urinary tract infection may also be responsible. Watch to see if he has trouble urinating, or seems to be in pain when he does. Regardless of what you observe, since your chinchilla seems to be in pain, I recommend that you have a vet examine him. A vet who is experienced with chinchillas would be best. this link will take them to a directory of them:
