Some 2003-2004 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit the following symptoms in any combination:
These conditions may be caused either by chafing or corrosion of the 14305 harness, or an interaction of the PCM with the charging system.
Check the vehicle build date to select the appropriate Service Procedure.
Vehicles built before 4/2/04: Reprogram PCM to the latest calibration using WDS release B32.2 or higher, and replace the 14305 harness. Apply a very light coat of electrical grease (F8AZ-19G208-AA) on the male pins of the alternator/regulator (C102A connection), and the pins of C192A on the 14305 harness (see Note).
Replace the 14305 harness as follows:
Vehicles built from 4/2/04 to 6/14/04: Reprogram PCM to the latest calibration using WDS release B32.2 or higher, and apply a very light coat of electrical grease on the male pins of the alternator/regulator (C102A connection), and the pins of C192A on the 14305 harness (see prior Note).
Vehicles built from 6/15/04 to 7/19/04: Only reprogram PCM to the latest calibration using WDS release B32.2 or higher.
