Question

I have a 1920 mechanical clock that chimes Winchester or Westminster - it keeps perfect time but always strikes the hour 15 minutes to late - for example at 9-15 it will strike 9 - so is obviously 15 minutes out of sync - how can I adjust? Thanks

Info Request

Do you see any specific make and model number on the clock.

Sorry no. All I know is that it is a European clock circa 1920 in oak Napolean Hat style. It has selector for silent, Westminster or Winchester chime. No maker's name or serial number unfortunately.

Accepted Answer

Not knowing the exact make nor model I would strongly suggest to take it to a person skilled in time pieces. By opening the back you may find a very small s/f screw. This would be your speed to reduce or increase. If your able to find it then you can move it to the right 1/4 turn and give it 24 hours time to see if it caught up. Short of this or taking it to a craftsman you could simply just set it 15 mins forward unless it continues to be 15 mins behind.
