hi
my dog woke up this morning shaky intermittely and then when picked her up she cried. we found a soft long lump from her under arm to stomach. This hurts her when touched. She has not ate today and just sleeping. I really don't want to take her to vet due to cost and only take her if very sick. is there something I can do? My thooughts are that she might have have infection or got hurt.

Hello, it is quite possible that your baby may have an infection and the lump that you are seeing is a possible area of puss that has accumulated. It really needs to be drained and antibiotics started if it is a abscess. The only thing you can do at home is to place warm compresses on the area to see if it will bring it to a head and possibly drain. More than likely though it needs to be drained by the vet as it is probably into some deeper tissue that compresses wont help. I would see a vet though at this time as the abscess can get worse with out draining and invade other parts of the body making your baby very sick. I hope your baby gets better but let me know if you need anything else.
