Question

I can't get the "cd" button in my 09 jetta to switch to "aux-in" mode. What should I do?

Optional Information

Year: 2009
Make: Volkswagen
Model: Jetta
Engine: TDI

Already Tried:
I disconnected the battery recently. This seems to have affected the radio. Now, if I hold "CD" button down for more than 2 seconds, CD player goes into "mix" mode. That's just as it should be. On the other hand, if I press "CD" twice quickly, nothing happens. Formerly, the sound system would toggle into "Aux-In" mode, to take input from external mp3 players. Is there a way to reset the CD button to get the Aux-In to work properly? Everything else in the sound system seems to work great.

Answer

You don't have to hold the cd button to get to the aux in feature you have to just push CD twice.

Dan,

I am sorry that I wan't easily understood. I n fact, I am pushing CD twice, no different than I did before. Only, this time, I do not get "Aux" to come up. I think it is due to the fact that I disconnected the battery. That is the only thing that has changed. I am not locked out, but I have a suspicion that (in some fashion) I need to reset the radio.

Thanks,

Paul

Answer

There is no reset per say. This vehicle being an 09 I would assume that is still under warranty. I would bring it to the dealer and have it diagnosed there is an internal coding in the radio that you need to make sure that it is coded correctly.

So, is it something like this - the code to the radio changed back, so that it "thinks" I have something like an Ipod dock, but I don't. So, it looks for the Ipod dock, and not the Aux input. It doesn't "find" the Ipod dock, so that option doesn't come up, but never bothers to give me the option of the Aux input, since it thinks I don't have one. The only way I remedy this is to get the radio changed back to the way it was originally coded. Right?

And, last question. Will the radio do this every time I disconnect the battery?

Accepted Answer

It may be something like that or there is a posibility that the aux input jack has failed all together, I have seen it before. And no, it shouldn't happen everytime you disconnect the battery.
