Question
My tiny Yorkie was apparently stung by a bee on the top of his paw. Now there appears to be a swelling on the bottom part of the pad. What should I do so we can continue his daily walk? Thanks!

Answer
My veterinarian recommends a dos of Benadryl for mild allergic reactions at a dose of 0.5 mg to 2 mg per pound of body weight, also a warm moist washcloth to help sooth the swelling would be a big help as well. With the Benadryl and the warm compresses it will reduce the swelling and irriation and this will aid in the swelling and irritation and allow him to enjoy his daily walks again. I hope this information will be helpful to you. Watch for any further signs of an allergic reaction such as continued sweeling, trouble breathing, or inability to walk on the injured paw. If it continues or grows worse I suggest that you have him seen by your veterinarian. I hope this information will be a help to you.
