Question

1998 175 ficht on 285 stratos, my question answered july 7, I accepted it , but had a few questions about the answer. My question was: Generally runs great but when running wide open stalls abruptly, then wont start, as if there is no spark, cranks for only a second or so. After letting it sit for a fe minutes, starts and runs rough for 30 seconds or so then is fine. This occurs when runing WOT for a few minutes. The first answer asked me if I tried to squeeze the ball, it was soft, and didn't seem like it wanted to firm up, but it never seems to firm up like it should even when it is in my garage, Should I look there? motor starts and runs great in all other conditions except the problem above. The answer said there were check valve issues on those years in the lift pump, and to replace it or the high pressure pump, would that be the electic or the diaphragm type fuel pump Which is which? Is this something this something that can be diagnosed by computer? Thanks for the help
