Question

I have a seventh month old Sphynx cat. Two days ago I noticed a peanut-sized lump on her left hind leg. It isn't red, irritated or pus filled and doesn't seem to be bothering the cat at all. She is playing, eating and sleeping normally. I am taking my cat to the vet next week, but thought I would try and get some reassurance that it is nothing too serious before hand.

thanks

This the first time I have seen this lump two days ago. Otherwise my Sphynx (hairless) kitten seems perfectly fine and not bothered by the lump. She also has all her routine shots up to date and is spayed. I just want to know about how worried I should be.

thanks

Info Request

Hi there,

Is this lump in an area where she received a vaccine?

Thanks

She had her rabies vaccine in one of her hind legs about two weeks ago. I pretty sure it was the left but I can't be 100% certain. Can a kitten have an allergic reaction after two weeks? How can I treat it and how long should I wait before following up with a vet?

thanks

Hi Siovone,

I am sorry your girl has this issue. It may be nothing, perhaps a lipoma, papilloma or a cyst. It can also be due to her vaccine. Yes allergic reactions can show up weeks later.

You can see lumps here:

I would have the vet take a look at it as soon as you can. It is probably nothing but it is best to err on the side of caution.

Please let me know what it was. I hope all will be well.

Warmest best wishes,

Terri

Hi Terri,
Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I will get my vet to see her next week. I already made the appt before trying this site. Just one other thing would ease my worry, in your experience is it common for kittens to have malignant lumps?

thanks again
