Info Request

Hello,

some additional information will help me to answer your question.

Is your rabbit spayed? If so, at what age was the surgery done?

From what part of her body is she pulling hair? Is she making a nest with it or putting it in once place?

Thank you.

no she is not spayed and she is pulling the hair from underneath and yes it seems as though she has only pulled the hair and left it in one place

Answer

Thank you for getting back to me. Your rabbit has reached the age of sexual maturity, and her hormones have gone haywire. Because of that, her body thinks she's pregnant. False pregnancies are very stressful to rabbits. Some even quit eating, which can be dangerous. Spaying your rabbit is the way to end false pregnancies. You can read more here:

The aggression is also related to sexual maturity. I breed and show rabbits, and I have several females that bite, scratch, and hiss when they want to breed. Once they're pregnant, the aggression stops. Spaying should also solve this problem. The following site has lots of information on dealing with aggressive rabbits:

You're welcome. There are other causes of false pregnancies, such as tumors and ovarian cysts, but they would be quite rare in a rabbit as young as yours. If you need anything else, let me know.
