Question

I just bought a logitech pro 9000 webcam. It will not work in the low resolution mode needed for VID or other 2 way communication. After several hours it was determined that my video card's memory is not high enough. They seem at a loss and says something is wrong with my video driver. I have updated my driver with Dell to the latest version with no success. If I go to the 640 res it works fine for photos and movies of myself but it will not show me in the 320 res. needed for webcam communication. My wind xp has a good video card but it's memory is only 128 mb. Do I need to buy a different webcam or do I need more memory period to operate a webcam? If this one will not work, maybe you could recommend one that will work.

There is nothing wrong with the logitech pro 9000. I have tried it on my laptop with a video card memory of 304 and it works. It will not work on my 2 desktops which are Dell optiplex 320.

Hi XXXXXX. Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer.

That is rather interesting. Almost any video card, even on-board should work with a webcam, you don't really need anthing extensive to broadcast with a webcam. Your system RAM should be at least 256MB, while your video card, doesn't really need much. However, your video card should support 32bit colors. What kind of video card does your desktop have?

That is very interesting. That webcam should work without any problems. Have you tried to install the latest software from logitech.com? You can get it from here http://tinyurl.com/m5ksnv

Hmmm. Not really sure what to suggest, I am stumped on this one. Sorry, I couldn't be of help this time. I will opt-out which will give someone else a chance to help you, hopefully they can shed some insight on the problem. It could be something simple, that I am just not thinking of.
