Any associated swelling , redness , tenderness, discharge on affected area?
Any history of drug abuse?
What type of injury on hand?
Since how long has he suffering from?

fever 102 chilled swelling and redness from hand to elbow,herion addict,a bump on back of hand ,suffering 4days,

Accepted Answer

With the history of fever and localised bump with a history of drug abuse he should undergo relevant blood work like HIV, Anti HCV ,HBsAg, VDRL ,CBC,ESR etc for further diagnosis and management.
Since there is a history of possibility of use of contaminated needles and drug abuse he should be seen by a doctor and further test should be done .
He may require antibiotics as well .
There is a definite chance of localised infection from contaminated needles as well .
