Question

Well, I finally got a carpenter square, and the frame to the front door is not square. Besides, taken the frame apart, how can I make the door fit so there are not such big gaps on either side? Mr Smith helped me before, if I could have him answer great if not just some help! Thank you.

Info Request

The project to square up your door is quite involved but not a highly skilled undertaking.

You will need some items for the job. Specifically, a "sawzall with a metal cutting blade".. (can be rented @ Home Depot or other rental store) A small bundle of shims, a short length of 1 X 4 ( 4 feet is enough) a package of flat head screws 3 1/2 inch in length, a level, a prybar, a can of insulation foam spray (if this is an exterior door) Power drill with a Phillips head bit, and a tape measure of course.

Now, before I go into a fairly lengthy step by step process of removing the door frame and then the re-install is this something you want to do yourself or call in a handyman?

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to XXXXXX XXXXX. A new grandbaby and a daughter who is a first time mother, takes more time than I anticipated. Now to the door. I bought my own triangle square and as it turns out, only the side where the lock is, is not square. The measurements from one top corner to the opposite bottom corner is 3/4 of an inch difference. At this time, I think we would be better off call in a handymen. But don't go away! This house is only 5 years old and needs lots of fixing. I think who ever built this house, was not a true builder, but rather someone who wanted to be. Thank you for your help and patience. No doubt, I will be asking for your help again, soon about insulating! Thank you again.

I would like to pay you for your help, but am unsure how to go about it. Can you help me do that? Thank you
