Question

We have an 18 month old hamster that seems in very good health but it drinks excessively - at least a bottle a day. Is this normal?

Nothing - just keep his water bottle constantly filled but he obviously urinates constantly.

Hello,

Like any animal hamsters can be prone to diabetes. Dwarf hamsters are especially prone to this problem. Since your Little hamster may have an issue with this problem I would suggest a visit to the Vet to make sure that this is not the issue. Usually the Vet will start with a modified diet to lower the blood sugar levels and hamster have been known to even get insulin. Joan
