Question

Just enclosed an additional 205 SF porch. I am waiting to insulate and air condition the area. Will my heat pump support this addition with just adding ducts/vents to the existing system. Current heated sf=2135, after addition = 2340 hsf.

Myrtle Beach, SC (temp 30F-100F)

Thanks for your help

Your system is a 3.5 ton unit.

I do not believe it can support any more area.

I am surprised that this system you have can support what it is already connected to.

would you reccomend a larger one or adding a stand alone unit on the porch?

Answer

If you would not mind having a window unit, you could go that route and save a lot of money.

You can also add a mini system.

It depends on what you want, and how much money you would be willing to spend.

It would be hard for me to justify upgrading the current system to a bigger one if it is working good.
