Question

We just moved to Nevada from Alaska. I have a 5 year old Golden retriever named Max. He seems fine behavior wise, but there seems to be a problem. He has spells of bloody urine and this morning his inital stool was solid but then something else came out that almost resembled diarrhea but I don't think that is what it was. He also has been vomiting. What is going on?

Answer

Hello,

Blood in the urine is a very serious matter this may caused by any number of multiple issues. It may be caused by infection, mineral sediment in the urine, or bladder stones that may be lodged. Not only is blood in the urine very serious to your dog, some of these conditions are also very painful!

If your dog cannot urinate or has other signs of illness, get to your vet immediately. Otherwise you can set up a appointment with your vet by calling him tonight and letting him know what is going on. The loose stools and vomiting may be from a infection as well, though it may also be a simple bug he has picked up. If you notice a blood or mucus then this is more serious and he will need to be seen asap (Today)

Since this is a holiday weekend I would advise you to get him in today simply because of all the symptoms and the bloody urine.
