Question

Bat about 3 inches big got into the house. I don't believe the cat or dog had direct contact with it, but I don't know for sure. They do not have any bite marks anywhere that I can see. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

If not seeing any wounds and don't think anything happened, I wouldn't worry about it, but to be on the safe side, we do recommend boostering their rabies vaccine sometime within the next 3 days. Though bats are one of the top carriers of rabies, it still is not 'common', but we always play on the safe side, since it is a deadly disease and can be caught by people as well.
